The Developer of this extension has also made note of a known issue: “Image Toolbar does not work with NoScript installed except for pages that you have granted permissison to execute JavaScript. This is due to a current limitation of Firefox which I hope to see fixed in Firefox 3.0.”

As you add more and more extensions to your Firefox browser, your status bar may get a bit crowded. The Organize Status Bar extension can help you get it organized and under control.

After installing the extension, you can access it by going to the top of your browser and clicking Tools > Organize status bar:

The following window will appear with a listing of everything that is located in your status bar:

From this window, you can change the order of the icons in your status bar, as well as hide some of them if you’d rather they not be seen.

I’ll give an example of changing the order of the icons.

Let’s say I’d like to move the Performancing icon all the way to the right (see below):

I would first highlight Performancing in the options window:

Doing so will highlight the button in the status bar. This is a great feature that helps you make sure you’re moving the right icon:

I would then click the Move Down button in the options window until the Performacing icon is all the way on the right:

I’ve used this extension many times to help keep my status bar exactly as I like it. If you like to use lots of extension, this tool may be valuable for you as well!

Now for a screenshot with Tiny Menu:

As you can see, a lot of room has been cleared up. You now have only one drop-down menu that houses everything!

So what do you do with your newfound space?

Well, you can add some buttons that maybe you didn’t have room for before:

Or, you can combine the Navigation Toolbar and the Menu Bar into one toolbar:

The beauty of Firefox is that you can do whatever satisfies you most!

But what if you don’t want every menu to be hidden from view?

What if you like having access to the “Bookmarks” drop-down menu?

Well, you’re in luck!

Just go to Tiny Menu’s options window, and choose the menu(s) that you would like to stay visible. In this case, it’ll be “Bookmarks.”

You’ll have to restart your browser for the changes to take effect, and when you do, you’re menu will be right where you want it to be:

The status bar is located at the very bottom of the Firefox web browser.

It is highlighted for you in the image below:

The status bar is the browser’s way of relaying information to you.

For example, when a webpage is loading, you’ll see status in bottom-left corner of your browser:

When the page is finished loading, the following will be displayed in the status bar:

Also, when you place your mouse over a hyperlink, the web address will be displayed:

So the status bar is the browser’s way of showing you what is going on.

There are many extensions available (which won’t be covered here), that greatly extend the functionality of the status bar.

The longer you use Firefox, the more you’ll realize the value of the Status Bar.

Step-by-Step Instructions with Screenshots

Let’s say you want to hide the Bookmarks Toolbar. In other words, you only want the Navigation Toolbar to appear in your browser window.

To remove the Bookmarks Toolbar, go to the top of your browser window and click View > Toolbars:

All of your toolbars will be listed. This includes any toolbars that you create yourself.

The checkmarks to the left of the toolbar names indicate that it will be seen on the browser window.

Since, in this example, you do not want the Bookmarks Toolbar to be seen, you need to left-click on “Bookmarks Toolbar” in the menu.

You will be left with the Navigation Toolbar:

Don’t worry! You did not delete the Bookmarks Toolbar. It is merely hidden from view.

In fact, if you were to go back to View > Toolbars you’ll notice that the Bookmarks Toolbar is still there; it just doesn’t have the checkmark to the left of it. This indicates that the toolbar is hidden:

If you would like to unhide the Bookmarks Toolbar, and have it appear once again on your browser window, just left-click on “Bookmarks Toolbar” in the menu.

Step-by-Step Instructions with Screenshots

By default, your Navigation Toolbar looks like the following:

But let’s say you want to rearrange the icons. You’d like the Home Page icon moved to the very left of the toolbar:

In order to do this, you must first go to the top of your browser window and click View > Toolbars > Customize:

The “Customize Toolbar” window will appear. Even though you will not be using the contents of this window, it must be open for you to rearrange your icons.

Next, put your mouse pointer on the icon that you wish to move. As you get close to the icon, your mouse pointer will change into a hand. This is to symbolize that you will be grabbing an icon and moving it somewhere:

Left-click on the icon and drag it to its new spot:

Once the icon is moved, it should look like the following:

Now you can close the “Customize Toolbar” window by clicking on the “Done” button:

By default, Firefox has two toolbars – the Navigation Toolbar and Bookmarks Toolbar. However, you have the option of creating new toolbars.

To watch a video on how to create a new toolbar, click on the “Play Video” button below. Or, scroll down for step-by-step instructions with screenshots:

Step-by-Step Instructions with Screenshots

Go to the top of your browser window and click View > Toolbars > Customize:

The “Customize Toolbar” window will appear.

Click on the Add New Toolbar button:

The “New Toolbar” window will appear. This is where you will type the Name of your new toolbar.

In our example, I’m going to name the toolbar “Edit”:

After clicking the “OK” button, your new toolbar will appear in your browser window. It should look similar to the following:

** Important **

Do not close the “Customize Toolbar” window without first dragging at least 1 button to your new toolbar. If you fail to drag at least 1 button, your new toolbar will disappear. It’ll be as if the toolbar was never created.

In our example, I’m going to drag over 3 buttons. Since I called this the “Edit” toolbar, I’m going to drag over the Cut, Copy, & Paste buttons.

To drag a button to the toolbar, left-click on it and drag-it. When you’re finished, you can close the “Customize Toolbar” window by clicking on the “Done” button.

Your new toolbar should look similar to the following:

If you want to hide your new toolbar, go to the top of your browser window and click View > Toolbars > Your New Toolbar. To unhide the toolbar, you would do the same:
