<p>Find In Tabs is a <a title="Firefox Extension" href="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/2007/02/22/what-are-firefox-extensions/">Firefox Extension</a>.</p>
<p>You can download it from the <a title="Firefox Add-Ons site" ahref="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8078">Firefox Add-Ons site</a>.</p>
<hr />
<p>This extension allows you to perform a search in <em>all your open tabs</em> at the same time.</p>
<p>To perform a search, just click <strong>Ctrl + F</strong> on your keyboard to bring up the search bar. In this example, I have two open tabs and will search for the term &#8220;Firefox.&#8221;</p>
<p>After typing &#8220;Firefox&#8221; into the search box, I click on <strong>&#8220;Find In Tabs&#8221;</strong>:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/248a.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This will search for the term &#8220;Firefox&#8221; in all open tabs. Below you can see the results. The Tab # is shown, and the location of the term &#8220;Firefox&#8221; is highlighted in yellow:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/248b.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Clicking on a search result will take me to that particular Tab, as well as the location of the term on the page.</p>

<p>This extension is primarily for power users who have lots of different search engines in their <a href="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/2007/02/15/the-search-bar/">Search Bar</a>. You can use this extension to add folders and separators to your search engines list.</p>
<p>Below is a typical search engines list:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/217a.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>After installing this extension, click on <strong>&#8220;Manage Search Engines&#8221;</strong> in the drop-down menu. The following window will appear:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/217b.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>From here you can add Folders and Separators. I&#8217;m going to add one of each, and then drag-n-drop the relevant search engines into the folder:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/217c.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>When finished, this is what the search engines list looks like:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/217d.png"></center></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve got a long list of search engines, this extension will definitely help you organize them better and save you valuable time.</p>

<p>To install one of these, you would simply click on the provided hyperlink. For example, let&#8217;s say you want to install&nbsp;Amazon&#8217;s A9 search engine plug-in. You would click on the A9 hyperlink:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65b.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The <strong>&#8220;Add Search Engine&#8221;</strong> window will appear.</p>
<p>Click the <strong>&#8220;Add&#8221;</strong> button.</p>
<p>If you want to start using this plug-in right away, click on the box labeled <em>&#8220;Start using right away.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65c.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>When you return to your Search Bar, you&#8217;ll notice that the A9 search plug-in has been added to the list:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65d.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Those are the basics&#8230;</p>
<p>But there&#8217;s <em>more!</em></p>
<p>Go back to the Firefox Add-Ons website and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You&#8217;ll see a section called <strong>&#8220;Additional Resources.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>Click on the <strong>mycroft.mozdev.org</strong> link:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65e.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You will be taken to the Mozdev.org website, which contains just about any search plug-in that you can think of.</p>
<p>Near the top of the page, you find the section called <strong>&#8220;Find Search Engine Plugins / Search Providers.&#8221;</strong> Here you can type in the URL of a website, and it will search for any plug-ins&nbsp;for that specific site.
<p>But I&#8217;d like to point you to the <strong>&#8220;Advanced Search&#8221;</strong> link. Click on it:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65f.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>When the Advanced Search page appears, scroll down to <strong>Browse the categories:</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/65g.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As you can see, there are literally thousands of search engine plug-ins to choose from.</p>
<p>Have fun!</p>

<p>We&#8217;ll name this keyword search <em>&#8220;Google Keyword&#8221;</em> and assign the letter <em>&#8220;g&#8221;</em> as the keyword:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>To do so,&nbsp;you would&nbsp;go&nbsp;to the Firefox Location Bar and type the <strong>keyword</strong> followed by the <strong>search term</strong>.</p>
<p>In this case, the Keyword is <strong>&#8220;g&#8221;</strong> and the search term is <strong>&#8220;CyberNet News&#8221;:</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/64c.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Hit <strong>&#8220;Enter&#8221;</strong> on your keyboard, and the Google search results for &#8220;CyberNet News&#8221; will appear:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;d like to move the eBay search engine to the second spot on the list:
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p> <center><img src="http://learnfirefox.cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/61d.png"></center>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You would first highlight the eBay search engine by clicking on it.</p>
