MeasureIt is a Firefox Extension.

You can download it from the developer’s website or the Firefox Add-Ons site.

MeasureIt allows you to draw out a ruler on any webpage. The pixel width and height will be provided. This tool can be especially helpful to web developers.

After installing the extension, you’ll notice a MeasureIt icon in the bottom left corner of your status bar:

 

 

When the icon is a gray color, it means MeasureIt is inactive.

Click on the icon to activate it.

You’ll notice the color of the icon will change:

 

 

You can now draw out a ruler with your mouse. In the example below, I drew out a ruler over the Cybernet News logo:

 

 

Notice that the pixel width and height is provided in the top right corner.

You can create the ruler anywhere on the page.

When finished, you can deactivate MeasureIt by clicking again on the small icon. This will return you to your normal browsing environment.
