Smart Bookmarks Bar is a Firefox Extension.

You can download it from the developer’s website or the Firefox Add-Ons site.

By default your Bookmarks Toolbar will look similar to the following:

 

 

Each bookmark is displayed as a favicon with the name (in text) on the right.

This format tends tends to take up a lot of space, and your bookmarks toolbar can get really crowded if you have lots of bookmarks. The Smart Bookmarks Bar extension tries to take care of the space issue by reducing everything down to just the favicon.

After installing this extension, your Bookmarks Toolbar will look a bit different:

 

 

As you can see, the text is gone. This allows you to fit many more bookmarks on your toolbar.

Don’t worry if you forget where the favicon is pointing. Just mouseover it to find out:

 

 

This extension has several options that you can customize to your liking:

 

 

If you know where each of the favicons is pointing, and you’re not worried about forgetting, just uncheck the box labeled “Show bookmarks names on mouseover.”

The more bookmarks you have, the less space you may want in between each favicon. The amount of space can be adjusted in the “Bookmarks spacing” section.
