Paste and Go 2
Paste and Go 2 is a Firefox Extension.
You can download it from the developer’s website or the Firefox Add-Ons site.
Let’s say you have a URL copied to your clipboard…Maybe you copied it from another application, like Microsoft Word, or maybe you copied it from a website. In either case, to open this URL in Firefox, you would normally:
- Go up to your Location Bar,
- Paste the URL,
- Hit the ENTER key on your keyboard
However, with the help of the Paste and Go 2 extension, you can cut the above process down to the click of a button!
Now let’s say you have the words “CyberNet News” copied to your clipboard, and you’d like to do a search from your Search Bar. To do so, you would normally:
- Go up to your Search Bar,
- Paste the words “CyberNet News,”
- Hit the ENTER key on your keyboard
Once again, with the help of Paste and Go 2, you can search for “CyberNet News” with the click of a button!
You can see Paste and Go 2 in action by clicking on the “Play Video” button below. Or, scroll down for step-by-step instructions with screenshots:

After installing the Paste and Go 2 extension, you need to manually place the buttons on your toolbar. You can do so by going to the top of your browser and clicking View > Toolbars > Customize:

The “Customize Toolbar” window will appear. Find the “Paste and Go” and “Paste and Search” buttons:

One-by-one, left-click and drag the buttons to your toolbar. I recommend placing the “Paste and Go” button near the Location Bar and the “Paste and Search” button near the Search Bar:

Now when you have a URL copied to your clipboard, just click the “Paste and Go” button and it will load automatically in your browser.
Likewise, when you have a search term copied to your clipboard, just click the “Paste and Search” button and your search results will load automatically in your browser.
But what if you’re tight on toolbar space, and don’t have room for 2 extra buttons?
No problem!
You don’t need the buttons. With URL’s, just right-click on the Location Bar and choose “Paste and Go” from the context menu:

For searches, just right-click on the Search Bar to choose “Paste and Search” from the context menu:

The Paste and Go 2 extension also gives you the ability to do some customization. Here are some screenshots:
